New to me 4000D questions

All, I ended up pulling the trigger on the 1966 4000D I found on Craigslist. It has poor rubber, but holding air. Comes with a box blade, scrape blade and yard rake, I got it for what the implements are worth ;). Currently torn down. Has a bad stuck intake valve on #3. Taking any and all suggestions to get it unstuck. Tach shows 9500 hours on it, but engine has been rebuilt at some point. I'm sure I'll be looking to you guys for help on it. It's a bigger beast than the 2000 and 3000 I've had in the past.

Also, I noticed that there is a selector valve under the seat, one of the Ford 3 position jobs. Can I add a remote to lift and lower things like a disk or seed drill?

Yes, a remote valve can be added. Very common option on 4000 and bigger. There's one on the Eau Claire, WI craigslist. Don't know how close you are, or if the seller would ship, but might be worth a call to see.

Thanks. My tractor has this valve on it already, can I just get the necessary fittings and plumb it in here? This is not my valve, just the first picture I found that has the right type valve.

A 66 4000 most likely has a 192. They didn't start putting 201s in them till 1970 or so.
If the head is off I would use a good penetrating oil and squirt the valve from both ends - if possible.
And tap on the stem with a small brass hammer.
Don't hit it too hard.
Once it moves take a drift and tap on the center of the valve from the other side. Keep adding penetrant. It should free up.
Once it is out I would have it checked to be sure it is not bent.
If you get a different push rod measure a good one for length.
They made them two different lengths depending on year and type of lifter. Can't remember which is longer.
Dunno about surfacing the head. I never have.
Take a good carpenter square and lay it lengthwise and corner to corner on the head. Put a bright light behind it and look at the light under the square. You can see a couple of thousanths warpage.

As has been said, all diesels were 201, and the start date for the 201 gas engines was 4/1/68, same as the sheet metal design change.

Early engines had different tappets and shorter push rods, nearly 1 1/2" difference so it's easy to tell.
Early push rod = 10.675"
Late push rod = 12.170
