Friend of mine is tractor shopping. Mostly an Allis guy, but he's looking at pre-'65 Fords. Current one he's asking me about is listed as a '64 2000. It's a diesel, SOS, and has power adjust wheels, p/s, mounting plates for pie weights, and a remote valve. With all those options, plus the facts that it has a 4000's paint scheme and 144's just aren't at all common leads me to think it might be a 4000. Assuming the model and serial numbers are likely eroded away, how do you distinguish between a 2000 and 4000? I know about the rear end being bigger/heavier in a 4000, but that isn't something I can tell for sure from a craigslist picture. Block casting numbers?
