Rod - alt bracket question

Rod, you have given myself and others the advice to grind a relief in the alt bracket for a 7710 to allow a delco 10 si alt to replace the factory alt. I finally got all the parts around and a decent day of weather to tackle the job. In looking at it, the original alt had external "ears" and the delco has an internal "ear". Near as I can tell setting everything in place is that I will have to grind off approx one third to one half of the original bracket to allow the delco ear to mate up to the bracket. And even at that, it won't be a traditional anchor point for an alt. Is this how you have modified your bracket in the past? Any problems of the alt not being sufficiently mounted with no vibration or movement to chew up the belt?

I just want to make sure I understand how you fabbed it up before I go grinding on the OEM bracket. If you happen to have a pic of your modified bracket it would be much appreciated.

Thx

Unless you have a different bracket... but yeah, I ground out about 1/3 of mine. That was... 10? years ago.. Just take out the bare mimimum you need to make it fit.
Mine had the 51 amp Motorolla..
