Ford 3400 spark plug removal

I am trying to get the third spark plug out on my
3400. It is the furthest toward the back and it
appears to be rusted so I cannot grab it with a
socket? I have blown it out many times as I thought
maybe junk in there but no. It has been soaking for
a week but just can't seem to get it. I am using the
6 point socket but appear to be failing. Has anyone
had problems with this? Is there a good tool for
this?

Ps. The engine is now unstuck but I am not turning
it far since I have diesel in the exhaust and am sure
it is hydro locked.

You might see if you can find one of new will take out any sockets in the size you need and give it a try

do you have everything out of the way so that you can put an impact gun on it with that 6 point, and set the gun to it's lowest hammer setting.

Many times just the vibration from the hammering will help pop them loose without pulling threads off the plug or the head.

Presume when you said soaking that it is in some sort of penetrant, and not just oil.. if just oil, blow it out and add penetrant.

take a center punch and place it on the metal of the plug and give the punch a whack. do this in 6 places around the plug. use the impact on it and initially set it to tighten a little, then set to reverse. alternate this.. starting at low pressure and if you get any movement.. you are likely good.. just work it back n forth a bit.

I don't have it near my shop but will try the punch thing. Have been soaking in penetrant though. Thanks for the suggestions both of you. Will hopefully get it out tomorrow.

is this not a head were the plug in recessed deeply into the casting??

find the next size down metric socket and gently drive it down over the plug till seated,, then impact it...

I have a set of rusted nut removers that are fluted with sharp spiral edges inside bottom to top. You tap them onto the nut and the harder you twist the tighter they grip. Maybe the make them deep.

Drop the plug socket in there and use a long extension with the wobble type end. I don't recall much of a clearance issue on mine. I presume you swung the battery out of the way fully

When I did mine it was just a swivel 13/16 sparkplug socket on a 9" extension, regular 3/8" ratchet.

Pounding a 21mm on might get it.
