Snap Ring ID

While cleaning the sump on my 4000SU, I pulled the PTO shaft to change a leaking seal and found a broken snap ring under the diff.
Does anyone know where this ring may of come from? The I.D is about 3".

I'd say that's the snap ring that retains the rear PTO shaft bearing in the support housing. If it already has one in there, then I'm guessing that's the remnants of the old one that never got cleaned out.

After looking at a parts breakdown, I agree. There is not another one in there.
Do you have any suggestion as to how to get the screens out of the sump for cleaning?

I believe the SU has the same hydraulic system as the 3000. If so, the sump screen is accessed by removing the 3-point lift cover and working through the top.

The problem is that the PTO clutch pack is in the way.Its one of the tractors that requires the tractor to be split behind the trans in order to remove the PTO Clutch. No room to move anything around.
