P/A rim clamp

OK. So I didn't look before I removed the clamps to adjust my rims. I got the one rim all the way out but the side only out about 3". Going to give up on it temporarily and lock it down where it's at. Looks like snow coming in so I'll get to it later. Need to get the blade on the tractor and ready to go. Question is, does the small tab go into the slot on the disc and then the clamp is used as a wedge to lock the rim down? If I put it flat on the disc, there's no way the tab will fit into the slot. Looks like the clamp is angled to wedge against the rim, but just want to make sure. Yea, I know, I should of looked before I jumped into it. Thanks!

Yes, Tom, the tab goes in the slot so the wedge is at an angle. Tighten evenly & re-tighten after using several times.
My Dad never liked the Ford suggested method of holding the opposite brake & making the tire slide sideways on his new 1958 961. We always held the brake of the wheel to be moved & drove (or backed) the tractor to screw it in or out! Either way this was a huge improvement over wrestling tires to change settings!

Hmmm.. Hi Lynn. Thank you! I never thought about trying to brake with the wheel I want to move and drive forward. That may give me a little momentum like that rather then the tire sliding sideways. I think I'll give that a try before I start locking everything down before the snow falls. Tom

A quote from the owners manual. "Brake the opposite wheel slightly and allow the tractor to creep forward or backward while the wheel is being adjusted"

I think I understand your question correctly.

Yes, the odd "spacer clamp" must be placed in the correct position on the disc or it will break when you tighten it down. The tab goes into the slot on the disc.
