8n hydraulic lift not working

My hydraulic control lever on my 8n will not
raise and lower my 3 point lift bars. After
evaluating it closer I discovered that while
removing the friction disc and lever the
control shaft has loads of play. When
twisted the right way it seemed to drop into
a slot and then it would work but It doesn't
stay in the slot. Does anybody know how to
fix this?
 
Is there any chance that the shaft is not moving but that your lever and plate is? That shaft has a keyway to keep it aligned with the handle and plate.

usually it is a darn snug fit.. but it could be loose and wallowed out .

If that's not it.. you will be pulling the top cover for a looksee.
