FOUND IT. For those of you following this fiasco. Ford's light finally came on. A stubborn German (yours truly) was too stubborn to see and listen, even after a couple of you guys running my noses in it..The nut that fastens the condenser to the points was dropped into the distributor by the PO.. I mentioned it in my first post.. The damage was done when the nut wedged under the strap that supports the can and weight assembly.. The strap was moved about 30 degrees on the shaft. The rest is history. Thanks for all the interest.GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

reat that you found it. I did try........as early as Dec12.
"Soundguy's suggestion brings to mind that since breaker cam is attached to advance mechanism & rotor is independently attached to the shaft, then the advance/cam to shaft relationship bears looking at."

and more later:"The cam, advance mechanism assembly & relationship to shaft can be wrong, have slipped at a crimped joint, be assembly of wrong parts, etc. and be the cause of points opening in wrong relationship to the rotor position."

:) anyway, I' sure happy for you as I know you gotta be happy & can sleep now!
