Refilling loader ressy

Did an alternator conversion in my free time and the original belt was to long. Machined the old genny pulley to fit the alt. And put on a shorter belt. Had to take the front pump loose for the loader and found a split lower hose coming from the resivoir for the loader (730) replaced that and buttoned everything up. What's the best way to bleed the air? Just fill it and run it? The fluid in it was milky but didn't feel or smell like water had made its way in, that isn't normal is it? Drained about 6 gallons give or take

Hydraulic oil should look like honey. If it is black it is from a little water. If it is grey, that's more water. Milky white...Dump it out and put in fresh before all the water does some real damage.

That was my general concensus. It usually smelled funky though from what I remember.

So new fluid and self bleeding. Thanks. I'll top it off and change the filter and fluid again in the spring.

All cylinders are collapsed right now so all the old stuff is what's left in the lines.
