Anyone have a picture of how to best support front of tractor when separating two halves? I pulled my engine on a 960 but could support on
rails. Not sure how to block the front to keep from tipping. May just put whole front on cherry picker. Thanks

I do it the easy way but most people are not set up like I am. I have 4 chain hoists and 3 are on trolleys so splitting a tractor is easy. I have one in the shop right now that I just put the engine back onto the bell housing yesterday.

I'm not seeing here these wedges go? Axle to booster is where? Not familiar with that part name

think he was a victim of autocorrect. "Bolster" may be what he meant.

If your 960 is the trike front end as in row-crop model the wedges are not used. If you have a wide front end then the wedges are used to keep the engine sitting level so it does not flop to one side or the other

I plan to support the oil pan from below with bucks but I need to figure out thee wedges. The axles pivot in front and go out to wheels. How big are these wedges and how do they wedge to the bolster. Is the bolster the large support that you remove from tractor to pull front forward? There is a bolster on each side but it looks like they swing out when loosened?

Those are the radius arms, the bolster is what the axle pins to where it pivots, the bolster bolts to the front of the engine.
On a 600 you should be able to puts wedges between the bottom of the axle and the bolster to stabilize the engine.
