Ford 3000 stalling

I have a 1966 Ford 3000 (gas) (built in UK) with its original Holley carburetor and approximately 1700 hours of operation time. This past summer it began stalling when the right front corner of the tractor is lower than the rest of the tractor. It starts and runs fine all other times. I have read some comments indicating that Holley carbs were a problem and recommending replacement with a new Zenith carb. I would appreciate any thoughts regarding the stalling problem, and if you believe the carb is the issue, your thoughts regarding a fix (ie replacment with a Zenith vs. rebuild). Your consideration is appreciated.

How long after the right front is lower does it actually start to have the problem? If it is several seconds then there might be something inside the tank that slides down to that corner and blocks the screen on the top of the shutoff valve. If the problem starts right after the right front dips down, then possibly the float in the carb is loose to the point that it rubs against the side of the bowl and doesn't open up the needle valve.

As for the Holley carbs, they take a bit more tinkering with to get them adjusted properly, but once they are they seem to run fine for a long time. The Zenith carbs are easier to get them adjusted to where the tractor runs goods, but from what I understand they turn the tractor into a gas guzzler.

If it acts like it floods out you have a bad float. Those Holley's are great carbs they are just different from what most tractor folk are use to working on.

Fwiw re GPH: our 65 gasser came with hi hours and the classic Holley half-choke problem. Never could get that carb fixed so don't have point of
comparison before we switched to Zenith. I don't plow with it or use a big disk, or bale, so never into wide open throttle. But with finish
mower, bush hog, and back-blade in snow, I typically see no more than 1 GPH, usally less.
