P/A rim adjustments

Please put up with the newbie and P/A rims. Does this look about right to you guys (and girls)? I have the rims spun out so the weights are about even. Do I only need to torque down the 4 nuts with the small cast stops? Is the small piece bolted on the outside edge of the rim just a stop? It looks like another stop welded on the inside of the rim as well.

Adjust them wherever you want along their travel Tom.
That's the joy of the PA rims as opposed to flipping the loop
style rims side-to-side or turning them inside out.

Yes, there is a welded stop on one side and a bolt-on stop on
the other side. One has to be removable to get the center out.

Those four clamps are what holds them tight when in use.
They need to be very tight. Check them regularly for a while.
If that means leaving a couple of wedges off for a while, so be it.

Looks like you have a nice set of pie weights there.
I can find the heavy ones around here but haven't found a set
of light ones to use on my PA rims yet.

Yes. Tighten the clamps tightly. They will likely need retightening once or twice after you use the tractor. If you hear noises indicating movement or one or both rims, retighten the clamps.

The welded-on and bolted on stops prevent running the rims out of the adjustment rails or knocking the valve stem off when adjusting.

Another option for weight with the PA rim is the Industrial plate weights as seen here on my 641. They were made for the 24" wheel so will fit the 28" PA right nice. These are also hard to find but if you run
across them you'll know that they will work with your PA rims.

Those are the 30 lb. "AG" pie segments.

No drilling required and full range adjustment of PA rims possible.

Ok. Got the 1st. side adjusted no problem. Now the opposite seems hung up. Any ideas? I tried jacking it up and moving it. No luck. I then put it on the ground and locked brake on opposite side. Brought the rpms up and tried moving it like that. At first it didn't move. After I popped the clutch a couple times I got it to move about 1/2 turn. Doesn't look like it's hitting anywhere, just stuck. Is this common and I just need to bumping the clutch to free it up? I figured I'd stop for the night and get some input from you guys.

Sometimes a farmer set them where they needed to be then never moved them again. Some times rust can build up under tracks mostly under the center. Spraying with BP blaster or Kroil may help.Possibly tap the
tracks with a hammer to loosen any rust that may be scaled up. Also take some and paper and clear any paint or rust from the edges of the center disc and make sure the tracks groove edges are clear and don't
have paint build up. Sometime working them back and forth may help.

I was asking Kirk that question, Dean. His are not pie weights!

To answer your question Larry on the IND plate weights no drilling
is required.
They have a mounting plate which is used as the first weight. The
mounting plate uses the same adapter nuts as the pie weights. The
mounting plate weighs about 125 lbs. Each additional plate is
about 100 lbs. The additional plate had a three bolt offset
system.

Kirk, Got the rim freed up but still only moves so far. It goes about 1/2 turn and gets tight. I pulled the tire and rim and removed the disc. Didn't look too bad but one track looked like it had a little hump to it. Other 3 seemed OK with a straight edge. I worked the one with the hump down a bit with an 8# hammer without doing any damage. Have it all soaked with Kroil for overnight and will try to remount the tire and rim assembly tomorrow after work. Hopefully it will move easier and further.
