Merry Christmas y'all,
First, I want to thank all of you that have helped me, it is greatly appreciated and every comment adds to my knowledge and perspective.
As I have been going through my 73' 4000 I have been surprised at the lack of wear, corrosion, etc., even with some moisture in different areas. The PTO clutch plates looked good. I started to get into the LH axle trumpet and the first disk, looked great and I expected that assembly to look good, certainly serviceable. That is not what I found at all. It looks bad, severe wear, and the wear is not where it is supposed to be. The pressure plate, the actuating disks are grooved a good bit. I thought about OEM quality parts and thought that Messick's would be the place. I would be looking at well over a grand, perhaps way more. It was difficult to sort through what they were listing.
I can get the disks, the intermediate plate, but the backing plates, can I get them milled? Other than letting them be and hoping for the best with new disks, replacement the only option?
Apologies for the longish post,
Thank you all very much,
George
