Tw series transmissions

What transmissions were offered in the ford tw series Looking at a tw 15 but owner can't remember what transmission it has I do know that it has the high and low range stick and the stick that has 1 thru 4 saw that when I looked at it but could not see lever for dual power was wondering where dual power was located or if it was possible that it didnt even have it

If it has the flat top cab, it would have a button in the
floor for shifting the dual power. Which I think( bern
will correct me if I'm wrong) started in 1985. Before
that they would have the older cab and the rocker
pedal in the floor.

I would venture to guess that well over 90% of TWs were built with Dual Power; in fact, I can't recall ever seeing one without it. For a TW15, it would be a button on the floor - looks like an old style dimmer switch. The button was used ever since the introduction of the "TWx5" series in 1983. Prior TW tractors (the 10, 20, and 30 models) had the rocker lever like the 9700s did.

If there is no button on the floor, either someone chucked it because it wasn't working (high probability), or that tractor is a rare 8-speed.

thanks for jogging my memory bern. I forgot they started the electric shift dual power on the smaller tractors with the 10 series. wasn't the cab change and black decal change in 1985?

I believe so, yes. This was also about the same time Ford converted the hydraulic system to dual pumps and closed center remote valves.

This is a black strip tractor open station there is a button in the floor beside the brake pedals I thought that was to lock and release the brakes Most of the tw tractors I've seen has the hand brake on the left of seat but this one does not have one not even evidence of one ever being there I looked for that. If the button in the floor is the dua power how do you lock the parking brakes

Handbrakes in TWs will only be found on FWD tractors, since the handbrake was incorporated into the FWD transfer case. I seem to recall that Ford offered handbrakes on 2WD tractors beginning with the 8030 series - it was essentially a transfer box with no output shaft going to the front end.

Your tractor only has a park lock in the transmission. You pull the shorter shift lever close to you, into the notch, to engage park. Once it's fully in park, it isn't going anywhere.

The button in the center of the floor is definitely for the Dual Power. Having said that, there's a good chance it does not work because Ford installed the same switch as the one they used for the headlight dimmer switch in the 1959 Edsel (or at least it looks like). That switch went through about 5 upgrades before they found one that was robust enough to handle the pounding and cow manure from a big boot.

The remaining "button" on the floor, near your right heel, is for the differential lock.

Thanks guys think I'm ready to make an offer on this tractor now If I get it I will post some pic on here I think it will go good with the rest of my fords
