Looking for information on my Ford 801/871 diesel tractor

Geardown

I bought a 1959 Ford 871 diesel tractor. It was a one owner tractor. It has the loader on it. It has a jerry rig of a air intake pipe that goes into a box filter witch the box is connected to the manifold. I'm trying to figure out what type of pre filter I should have, plus figure out where I can find the air inlet tube and I'm looking for a strap that goes under the filter box and holds the door closed. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

That square box that pipe goes into is the oil bath filter. The bottom "cup" comes off (it's about an inch thick), and there is a wire mesh that can be pulled out as well and cleaned. Our 961d uses the standard side grill in the hood where the 681 has a short stack with a round oil bath filter above the hood and the pipe goes straight into the bottom of the intake instead of the lower square filter. You could find a salvage pipe to reroute correctly to the hood grill from an 801/901d.

wow OK thank you for helping me out, that explains a lot now. So I can put just about any pre cleaner on top then. I didn't realize that the box was the oil fill cleaner, because I'm missing a strap that holds the bottom closed and there wasn't any oil in it. So I'm back to trying to find a strap, and fill it with oil. Thanks again Ive been trying to figure this out for three weeks now! I really appreciate it,

The under hood version may work beast with your loader.
With the loader at full lift make sure there's enough room between the loader and the hood for the external hood mounted air cleaner.

your tractor looks fantastic! Here's mine, the guy that had it Jerry rigged together a air intake system and I absolutely hate the way it looks plus it's not cleaning anything. Your system would definitely fit my tractor. I just last night changed my exhaust to one like yours. I couldn't handle the exhaust coming up for just below me. What happened to your old engine that you change engines?

Thanks! I pulled it out of an old barn back in the spring where it had been setting for nearly twenty years.
You had me confused for a moment, bigbleeker is the one that swapped engines, not me, this tractor is all original but the tires that were put on in 91 according to the stickers on them.
Looking at your pic it doesn't look like a external oil bath filter will clear the loader frame but you may be able to use the piping.
You can't see it but there's a small bracket welded to the pipe that bolts to the bottom of the hood to help hold the pipe up. there's also another bracket on the pipe that bolts to the top starter bolt holes.

yes that's what used to be on my tractor but its all been changed out, I need the pipe all the fittings the pre cleaner and the whole box cleaner, so basically the whole air cleaning system.

I'm from NE Ohio, what part of Michigan are you? How much would you want for the whole air cleaning system?
