What model Ford do I have?

Hi I purchased a Ford /tractor backhoe from an estate sale. I have pictures of the tractor/backhoe below. I need to replace the hydraulic cylinders on the hoe. Problem is as a new Ford tractor/backhoe owner I do not know the model number? I have the cylinders taken off as you can see in the picture(see hoe). Problem is when I took them in to get repacked I do not know the model number. Is it a 4500? 5500? 7500? If those are even correct model numbers(those are model numbers I have been told the cylinders could be from). The title says its a 1973 Ford tractor & backhoe. I cannot seem to get my project started without knowing the model. Is anyone out there able to look at what I have and tell me what model I have? Thanks so much for reading.

Sorry your pictures didn't make it. Look on the underside of the right side hood panel, above the battery, to see if it has the original foil sticker there. If it was truly made in 1973 then it would be either a 4500, 5550 or 7500. The 5550 replaced the 5500 in 1970.

Here are the first three digits for the model number on the sticker for each of those tractor models:

4500:
D50

5550:
E55 or J50

7500:
E56

Thanks for the reply. I see a plate that says this under model...
I think its a E or an F. Looks like an F then 5611s.
I could send you a picture of that and the tractor?!?

For some reason my pictures will not go up?

A tractor number (serial number) starting in C411 would actually be an early 1974 tractor, but everything in my last post still applies.

(quoted from post at 15:07:41 11/21/16) They also made a 6500 in 1973.
Thanks to so many people for trying to help. I am in need of repacking the cylinders on the backhoe. It seems without knowing the exact model I am unable to order the parts. Does anyone know if they would be interchangeable among models? If you look at my picture you will see I have them removed from the backhoe. Thanks

Thanks Mark. That was really awesome of you to help. Could I ask you another question? I needed to get the hydraulic cylinders repacked on the hoe itself. Because they were leaking. Thats why I needed the model ect. ect. One cylinder just needs repacking. The other cylinder is bad. So I need to completely replace it. Is there a model number for the cylinder itself? I am going to try and upload a photo of the hoe with the 2 cylinders removed. You will see only the hydraulic lines. Thanks for your time.

Here are links to the parts drawing of the various cylinders on the backhoe of a 7500:

extendible dipstick cylinder:

You don't say which cylinder needs to be replaced, so here are the part numbers for each:

stabilizer cylinders - D7NNB580A

swing cylinder - D5NNB579D

lift cylinder - D7NNB577A

crowd cylinder - D7NNB578A

bucket cylinder - D5NNB576C

extendible dipstick cylinder - two different part numbers
depending on the date of manufacture:
May 1, 1987 through February 28, 1989: E6NNC492AA, which has been superseded by 83959267
March 1, 1969 & up: E7NNC492BD, which has been superseded by 82852784

Note that none of them appear to be available new any longer, but you should be able to search salvage yards using those numbers.

Wow awesome info. Thanks a bunch. For some reason I cannot get my pictures to load. But I think I just got one to load of the 2 cylinders I am trying to work with.

I guess you mean the two cylinders that are missing in that picture. The part of the backhoe closest to the tractor is the boom, and it "lifts" up and down, so the missing cylinder closest to the tractor is the lift cylinder. The next section of the backhoe is the dipper and it moves the bucket further or closer to the tractor (how much it "crowds" the tractor) so that next cylinder is the crowd cylinder.

I see that Sean in PA has given you all the information and links for looking up parts for your cylinders and I would suggest taking the cylinders to someone that specializes in hydraulics as they might be able to help with getting the damaged cylinder repaired.

Ya thats my next question I need to post is advise on where to purchase? I am getting crazy pricing quotes. I need something from a salvage yard to make this work. Thanks for the tip.
