3point lift

Posted last weekend. I have an '55 ford 860 and the lift quit working in the middle of the job I was doing. Someone said if my PTO gauge was not moving, remove the cable, and start it. I did and I can see something turning around the piece that connects to the shaft, but the center piece is not moving. Do I pull the pump to look at the shaft and drive gear next? I know nothing about hydraulics.
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

Let's do this one step at a time. Remove the adaptor and stub shaft that connects the Proof Meter cable to the hyd pump. With a light, look into the end of the pump. Does the little slot headed bolt turn with the engine running?

Sitting in my comfortable chair in front of this computer screen I would say the splines are gone on the pump shaft or the drive gear or both. Take the pump off by taking the three bolts or nuts at the bottom front of the pump out, and the two bolts at the back top of the pump (9/16) wrench and take it to a reputable mechanic or NH dealer. Since I am computer illiterate, I am not able to attach links etc to help you with the repair. Perhaps some one else can .

Hey Wayne, thanks for the help. I pulled the pump off and then took the drive gear out. It's rounded off where the shaft goes through it. Now I'm going to search the great wide web abd look for a gear.
Thanks again,
Gary

Better get a new gear to put on the worn shaft, A used gear probably will be to lose, although I have one ,if that,s what your are thinking. This site sells new ones, which I think you better have.
