Selec-Trol on NAA

I need information on Selec-Trol. I want to add it to my NAA so I can operate a single-acting remote cylinder. SN is 00046, but I have updated it with the lift cover plate that has the 3/8 pipe thread female port. I understand that I will need to restrain the lift arms so they can't go all the way up and throw the control valve into neutral. I don't understand how the pressure is relieved when the remote cylinder hits the top of it's stroke, since the 3-point controls will "think" the arms are still coming up. I would like to avoid the cost of an OEM valve. Since I have the 3/8 port it seems to me I could make up a selection valve from off-the shelf components if I understood the plumbing. In other posts I see what looks like a manual page, where did it come from? I would really appreciate any advice.

I have an NAA remote valve I would sell too, bought it to add a snowplow to a tractor but ended up putting the plow on our 850 instead

He is talking about an external cyl run off the tractor hyds.

IE. chain the 3pt lift arms down, run a hose from the small option cover with plug on the right front of the hyd cover . That hose can go to a single acting cyl, or to a valve.

In that setup, the system won't unload. Any time the 3pt lift control is up, oil is forced out that port to the external cyl.

When that external cyl reaches full stroke and deadheads, the relief int he base of the sump lifts, just like it should.

your naa has a relief valve int he base of the hyds sump. when your external cyl reaches end of stroke, it will make the relief lift... as designed.

Thanks to SounDguy and markct for your replies. If you want to put a price on a Selec-Trol valve, send me an e-mail at [email protected].

I understand what you mean about simply tapping into the 3/8 port and running a hose to a remote cylinder. I have done that as an experiment. When the cylinder hits the end of its stroke the relief valve holds the pressure at 2,000 psi. until I move the quadrant lever down to correspond to the position the lift arms are held at. What concerns me is that this in effect uses the relief valve as a control valve. I don't think it is intended for that. The I&T manual cautions against activating the relief valve for more than about 10 seconds. Any thoughts?

You are not understanding Hyds.

If you raise the 3pt control to raise the external cyl, and then hold it against full stroke, you are not using the relief as a control valve... You are using it as a relief valve!!! The control valve is in your hand on the side of the tractor. When the cyl hits full stroke, just back the control valve up a bit to a neutral position to hold oil in the cyl, or further back to exhaust the oil.
