NAA PTO Operation

My family has had a 53 model Jubilee (NAA) since new. The direct connection between the drive and PTO always makes it a little challenging maneuvering in tight places when mowing. My brother in law just purchased the same model tractor. When mowing with it and you depress the clutch, it will disconnect the PTO so you can actually stop the tractor. How can this be? The PTO shaft is different from what I'm used to...almost looks like it's an extension of the PTO...has a grease fitting.
I want my tractor to work like this one. What do I need to do?

That is called an overrunning clutch. You need it for any tractor that does not have a live pto. They cost around $75. Make sure that the
one you buy has the correct shaft diameter for your tractor. The clutch allows the pto to engage the shaft to the implement when power is
given through the pto, but "slips" when the implement speed exceeds the engine pto so that it does not drive the tractor forward due to the
inertia from the implement (usually a brush hog). It is important for safety that you have one on your Jubilee. Simple to buy, install and once
installed you just need to grease it every now and then. Here is a pic of one on my Jubilee.

53,
Also note: the overriding clutch when installed, will Add additional length to your implements pto shaft,

You must insure the added length will still allow you plenty of pto shaft free play as you raise and lower the implement,

Note, this free play measurement is critical or you will damage your tractor or implement!!!!!!!
