Jubilee generator and front pulley bolt torque

Replacing the front crankshaft seal and was wondering what the torque is for the hand crank hub/ bolt is. Also I checked the voltage across the battery posts and just had 6.25 while running(6 volt system), grounded the field terminal on the regulator and no difference. Tried motoring the genny tonite and couldn't get anywhere with that either. Any tips or advice. thanks chris

Rebuilding the generator is very simple. You can buy a new front bearing and the brushes on line and they are inexpensive. Check for any broken wires, remove any built up carbon on the commutator and armature, clean it up good, lube the back bearing, and you should be good to go.

Well, I'm gonna guess you tried the wrong motor test on the generator, since you also tried the wrong full field test procedure!

NAA + machines are not 8N!!!

On a NAA+ machine, they have B circuit electronics. you POWER the field instead of grounding it.

Try your motor test again. ground to generator case, power to field and armature, see if she spins.

If yes, you are half way there. However.. you may be forking out 40$ for a new regulator, as grounding the field on a B circuit regulator is one of the TOP ways to burn out it's field circuit!

See if you got lucky.

Sorry Soundguy, I work on most everything but not a jubilee yet, let alone an N series, just thought I'd try what I knew, will try the motor test you mentioned, had the genny apart to look inside and it looked ok and intact. chris
