Torque spec front crankshaft bolt

Wondering torque spec for large bolt in center of crankshaft pulley.probably dumb ? But any tricks to keep crank from turning when tighting.

Always best to mention the model of tractor, or at least which engine you are working on in a question like this, as we can't help you with the torque spec until we know what engine it is.

How to keep the crank from turning as you tighten the bolt can depend on the current state of the engine. If the engine is still in the tractor and the rest of the drive train is complete to the rear tires being on the ground, put the transmission in gear and let out the clutch. If the engine is out of the tractor and the head is installed, a good method is to put a length of soft cotton or nylon rope into one of the cylinders via the spark plug hole or, in the case of a diesel engine, the fuel injector hole (leave enough rope outside so you can easily remove it later) and turn the crank until the piston presses against the rope inside the cylinder and won't allow the crank to turn any more.

Slipped my mind ford 861 gas .motor is in tractor .I have a torque chart the lingo throws me off a little just
making sure I had some bad luck flywheel bolts .iam in the process of Swapping diesel 172 motor with a 134 gas all
most there .the large bolt loosened when I was using it to hold crank when I was tighting 4 pulley bolts.

With the engine in the tractor I would just put the transmission in 4th or 5th gear and let out the clutch. As long as both rear tires are on the ground the crank shouldn't turn on you once all of the slack in the drive train gets taken up.

Haven't got my book in front of me, but I think it is 100 ft/lbs.
That bolt must be kept really tight, as it 'preloads' the flyweight governor.

Just did a 641, where the bolt was tough to break loose...and couldn't get an impact on it.
Good wrench fitted thru the cradle.
Sparkplugs out, rear tire lifted, in gear, muscle turned the tire, wrench couldn't move......bolt came loose.
Tightened it the same way.
(When I tried to muscle the wrench, with it in gear with the tire on the ground, it just climbed over the chocks...lol)
