I converted my tractor to an alternator. Wired up as shown in the instructions. Fired it up and it charges fine. Shut it off and the battery went dead in about 5 minutes. Jump started and charged the battery. Shut down and disconnected the hot terminal. Put on ammeter and it shows 4 amp draw. I know there's a short somewhere. HELP!

They don't charge by the word here...
Yes we know if you converted the tractor to
an alternator you would have removed the
original V reg.
But alternators have v regs too. Some, like
a GM/Delco 10-SI are internally regulated
and are very simple to wire - either 1 wire
setups or 3 wire setups. Some like
Motorolas, have an external regulator and
are harder to wire.
Is is this a kit you bought somewhere?

They can help you but not knowing what you
have.
