Re torque for flywheel bolts ford 861 5 speed

The torque iam reading says 75-85 ft pounds is this correct.can I use grade 8 bolts some one said no only original I think the original I have look tired that's why the threads pulled.716 x 20 bolts.
 
Your torque spec is correct, 75-85 ft lbs. If I recall correctly, the head of the original bolt has a greater diameter and are not a thick as a normal grade 8 bolt. I believe they were designed that way due to a clearance issue. Not sure though. If it were me I'd use original Ford bolts, probably spendy, but well worth not having the aggravation of pulling it apart again. Ford used two different length bolts for the single and double clutch. Make sure yours has the correct length and re-chase the threads.
 
They are different length 5 speed 3/4 length .4 speed much longer. I'll call newholland tomorrow .when I look up a 7/16 x20 grade 8 max torque is 70pd . fords is 75-85 PD just curious why the difference .
 
The difference between grade 8 and the Ford spec would surely tell us that the Ford bolt is made to withstand more pressure. Hope you get er fixed.
 
I called newholland they do carry the longer bolts which I don't need and for the short bolts says procure locally 716 x20 selfloxing hex grade 8.selflocking ?
 
If I understand your post, you're not sure about the "self-locking". There are several types. Some have a chemical applied to the threads that acts as a thread locker. Sort of looks like Teflon tape. Google it and you'll find some. McMasters - Carr probably has them.
 
Thanks for the help I all ready used grade 8 and blue locktight .the link did help I found some self locking bolts the bolts heads have deep slots just like orginal bolts .the locking look to be a mechanical lock the head locks down .I hope the the locktight works.
