Ford alternate air filter
My tractor: 1957 641
The air intake assembly was to costly to repair. An alternate air filter option is a K&N RU-0175. This filter can be found on the K&N web page under the drop down menu. "universal/clamp on filters". The M/S carb inlet is 1 1/2. There are several filters listed for the 1 1/2. I used the 6" long RU-0175. The 4" RU-0160 would have worked also. The filter was attached directly to the carb. I am sure using the inlet tube and some 1 1/4 PVC pipe the filter could have been located under the cowling.

We are all in this together... and I am pulling for ya.

Well that will work but you may want to get one of those socks to go over the filter to help keep dirt out of the filter, in dusty field or dirt work that oil coated filter is going to fill up fast.

Your statement is correct about the work environment of the tractor. A K&N sock has been ordered and scheduled to arrive today or tomorrow. So, for about $65, the old air filter assembly has been replaced with a better filtration system. A future update post will consist of the ease of maintenance. The idea of the clamp air filter originated from doing maintenance on dirt bikes and a VW bug. If the K&N part number can be crossed over to a cheaper brand, say NAPA WX, that will make it more affordable.
