Trying to figure out what i have, was told Ford 4000. I have enclosed a couple pictures. Wondering if it a 3000 grill or 4000 grill. From what I have read the SU used some 3000 parts.

SU = super or special Utility.
They are a 4000 with a 3000 front axle and steering.
Great tractors!
Lot of power in a small, nimble package.
Not for heavy loader work.

Your pictures don't show the grill, but the 3000 and 4000 grills were basically the same, and so is the 2000 for that matterso that wouldn't help us tell what it is.

4000 SU had the larger displacement engine, double reduction rear axle and inboard wet brakes of the 4000 and the radius rod front axle with double sided steering arms of the 2000/3000.

I can make out from the first picture that it has the radius rod front axle so it is not a regular 4000. You didn't provide any pictures of the rear axle or the casting code from the engine so I can't tell from your pictures whether it is a 2000, 3000 or 4000SU.

The top number in your second picture, 3H27C, tells us that it was assembled on August 27, 1973 during the afternoon shift. The bottom number, AA7023, doesn't mean anything as far as I know.

There should be two more numbers stamped up in the rough part of the casting above the numbers you found. One will be the model number, which should start with D14 if it is a 4000SU, C10 if it is a 3000 and B10 if it is a 2000.

I didn't see the second photo when I posted
before. Those are on the left side of the
tractor. He needs to give us the ones in the
same place on the right side.
Notice the cover on the engine - where the
hyd pump on a 2/3000 or SOS 4000 would be.
Kinda confirms it is a 4000 with IPTO.

No engine driven hyd pump means there's one in the rear axle. That means IPTO and wet brakes. I'll go ahead and say it is an SU just like the
decal says.

More pictures. As you can see the radiator shell and the grill are junk. I am going to remove the front blade mount and would like to replace the front radiator housing and the grill. Are all the radiator housings the same or different sizes? Also have to replace or rebuild starter, bendix bad, spins and does not engage. Not sure if 4000 starter or what to ask for.

I see that your grill is broken, but I'm not sure the tin around
it is not salvageable. Labor to fix would be a factor.

Can't lay claim to a lot of knowledge on these tractors but I do
know that front tin is different between some gas and diesels
within a seemingly same group of Ford x000 tractors.
Same with the hood panels. You'd want to shop carefully.

I wouldn't mount a snowplow or loader to my front axle.
However, that's a pretty clever repurpose for a Farmall drawbar.
I'd almost bet it's off a Cub.

Yes, it's clearly a 4000 SU. I would advise that regardless of what parts you need, reference the parts listing for the SU. Things like starters will be the same between the SU and 3000. Parts like the grill/nose shell I would be careful of... could be specific to the model.

Rod

I have a 72 4000SU, The front axle, complete steering, fuel tank and grill shell are the same as a 3000 of the same model year. There is a model year change on that style axle as to where the radius rod connects to the axle, but it was made to all models with that axle (2000,3000,4000SU).

Their a nice compact tractor with plenty of power and better brakes than any 2-3000 has. I use mine a lot in my poultry barns to get under water and feed lines during clean outs and decrusting.
Only down side is their a little slow in road gear, but I only notice it when traveling the six miles between my farm and my MIL's farm once a year during spring hay season.
