What are they two tapped holes just below serial number?

I noticed on all my hundred series
tractors there are two 5/8 tapped holes
just below the flat where the serial
number is, and two on the opposite side
a little lower. What was intended to
mount here, did any accessories ever
mount to that? I'm mounting a cab and
considering using them and got curious
why they were there in the first place

Yes, accessories mounted there.
I wouldn't have any fear of mounting a cab there
if the cab is appropriately sized for your tractor.
The three cylinder x000 series has two sets of those holes
on each side and my cab was mounted to the lower set.

On the Ferguson they are used for front mount cultivator. Ford had a mid mount mowing machine that was used on earlier tractors. It could be used on later ones.Ford also had front mount cultivator. I've operated both when I was a kid but don't remember how they mounted.

They also had two more bolt holes in the bottom of the clutch housing.
My quick attach loader mount bolts to the bottom and lower side holes.
My all weather cab bolts to the top holes.
I seen a four post roll bar that bolted to the top holes, later models had a larger tool box mounted to the top holes on the right side.

That's great to know they mounted the
loader to the bottom and sides holes, I
have been kinda picturing making a cross
bar underneath to catch those two holes
and then a couple tabs further up to
steady it off the side holes

I also had a small backhoe frame mount to the lower hole on the side and 2 holes under the trans. Two holes under trans a also used for snowplow mounts. Yep, good spot to sucure.

I am putting a cab and snowplow on this tractor but plan to fabricate mounts and subframe that go all the way to the rear axle, somehow just feels more secure
