I have a 63 workmaster. It's still 6 volt positive ground battery is charged and light comes on when key is turned but soon as u push starter button light goes out and nothing happens. I replaced solenoid. Starter possibly? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Sounds like you have a simple problem at the battery cables and one or both need to be clean tight and bright . Bet when you turn it on it is making good enough contact at the battery for the lights but when you need a lot of amps to spin it over it is not good enough to carry all those amps. Or the other end on the cables are needing to be cleaned up

Hopefully you got it figured out.
It sounds to me like a loose/dirty connection as well.
Either on the battery or the other end of the cables.

A '63 Workmaster? I thought that the Workmaster name was for the 501, 601 and 701 series, which ended production in '62.

nor real sure I bought it used and that's what I was told. Anything possible? That make it a negative ground?

. I'm getting 6v to one side of solenoid when I turn key I get 6 volts to start and ignition studs on solenoid but not to other side. Puzzlingly. I'll definitely clean up every battery connection. Hope that will do it. Thanks again

If it has a gasoline engine, it had a 6 volt positive ground electrical system when it left the factory and if it has a diesel engine it had a 12 volt negative ground system. That applies to the Workmaster series as well as the '63-'64 thousand series, whichever it is that you have.

It's gas 6 volt so guess it's hooked up right. Thanks again
