I have this Ford 5000 I recently purchased and I'm trying to figure out what this lever is suppose to operate. The one behind it is the PTO lever. This lever is on the left side by your left foot. It doesn't seem to operate anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Gregg Looks like a park brake to me. The earlier ones had a T shaped pull out handle just behind the brakes close to the gear box, it was lifted and turned to lock in. If yours doesn't have this handbrake it is. It may not do anything because the brake pad is worn had a 7700 with that issue.

It's the "transmission handbrake", as opposed to the mechanical handbrake available in two different forms (USA or England build). It stops the rotation of the rear axle pinion shaft. If it doesn't work, it's most likely because the linkage is stuck or broken, not because the plates are worn.

My favorite handbrake is the English mechanical one on the RH side, when it's not seized up of course.
