hydraulics on a Ford 821 tractor

Hello;
I am looking at purchasing a 1960 Ford 821tractor. This was the economy model with a PTO (dealer installed ?) but no hydraulics or 3 point. On the left side of the 172 gas engine, I see the plate that usually has the hyd pump connected to the crank. Is it possible to install the usual hyd pump on this tractor (or) do I need to look into front mounted hyd pump. The reason is I would like to put a loader on this unit.
Thanks,

Yes you could install that factory pump but for a loader it does not work very well due to being a low GPM. A loader work far better wit ha front mount crank drive pump plus most loader come with that pump

There was no factory crank driven pump, they were driven by the camshaft. For a loader it would be very slow and low pressure, a front mount pump off the crankshaft would be much better

Thank you gentlemen for your input.
If the tractor ends up as mine I will go with the front crankshaft hyd pump. I was not aware that loaders come with such a pump...
Thanks.

I have 4 machines with loaders on them and all but one use the front mounted crank drive pump. The one that uses the tractor pump is very slow. Both my 8N with loader and backhoe use a front mounted pump and my 841 uses a front pump also

Hello;
A related question, if I may; is a 1960 Ford 821 (Elenco) considered an industrial tractor?
Thanks,

Main difference between the 801 ag series and the 1801 Industrial series is the Industrial series had a single piece non-adjustable front axle that was heavier duty than the 3 piece adjustable front axles on the ag models, so it would stand up to loader work better. Some, but not all, of the industrials also had the cast front grill. So the funny thing is that an 1821, which is an industrial model, with an Elenco conversion would be considered an industrial model while an 821 with the Elenco conversion would not, even though they are basically the same tractor once you install the Elenco conversion which replaces the front axles of each with an identical 4WD front axle. The only difference at that point would be the grill if the 1821 happened to have the cast grill.
