ford 850 water pump

I am afraid I must replace the water pump on my 57 850 It wobbles and clatters but doesn't leak much. My service manual says to simply remove the hose and fan blade to remove the pump. That's mighty close quarters in there and to add to the job I have a wagner loader on it.Can it be done or do I have to remove more stuff.Any advice from anyone more experienced than me appreciated.

You'll definitely want to replace it because if it lets loose, the fan will likely damage the radiator core. I've got a wagner on my 850, it might help to have the loader up enough to move the lift cylinder out of your way. The loader must be safely supported if you will be working under it.

I can't see what else you would need to remove, besides the fan and the hoses. Possibly the thermostat housing too. I just took a look at both my 850 and 640, neither are easy to get to the water pump bolts, but it looks like the pump would have enough clearance to get it out on each.

I have replaced the water pump on my 841 with out pulling any thing off other then the pump and i too have a loader on it. I raised the loader up all the way and then set a couple pieces of angle iron on each cylinder and tie them on that way the loader could not fall if something odd happened. Reason I tied the angle iron on is so they too could not be bumped and then fall off
