Ford 3000 Head Gasket

I need to replace a leaking Head Gasket on my Ford 3000(gas) it is only leaking oil right now. Do I need anything other than just the Head Gasket. I think I should be able to leave the manifolds attached to head and how fast does Yesterdaytractors usually ship

If leaving the manifolds on use a cherry picker to remove the head.


I would probably replace the rubber umbrella seals while you have the head off.
 

Where is the gasket leaking, there's not many places it can leak oil.

If you pull the head with manifolds attached use a hoist, the head is fairly heavy, with manifolds attached it will be bulky and hard to handle.

One of the biggest jobs is getting the four bolts out of the back of the head that help hold the fuel tank and dash shroud.

I'd get the top gasket set also, you'll need the valve cover gasket, and it wouldn't hurt to have the manifold gaskets just in case, looks like tstat gsk and valve seals are in the top set also.
 
I would put a whole upper set on it. I'd take a close look at the valves while it's off. Sometimes a quick job of lapping will take out some
minor burn pits and kick that ball down the road a ways. If they're real bad, grind them... You should also check the head for flatness and
have it flattened if necessary. It's probably not warped but where it's leaking it would be advisable to check. Also make sure you chase and
clean the head bolt holes with a bottoming tap and insure the pilots are not deformed...

FWIW, Yesterday's Tractors has always been a quick ship to us, generally 5 days or less from order to delivery. That's from WA to OH. We don't have a daily working tractor, so can wait if needed. Our local CNH dealer aims for (and charges, of course) 2nd-day or even next-day delivery, but they're geared at serving those needing to get their equipment going asap.
