New generator question?

I bought a ner genny for my 73' 2000 diesel. Took the old one odd and put a little liquid wrench on the pulley to soak for a day. Pulley came off pretty good after that. Installing toe fan blade & pulley on the new genny went pretty easy. The problem is, I can only get about a half a nut on the bolt to hold it all on. I did use a weak impact. I noticed the original nut was only about 1/2 the thickness of the new nut. I thought about just using the original nut but it's a little boogered up inside for some reason. I'm concerned with only a half nut that it will come off and I'll have a real mess. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I can't help with your generator question, but the easiest way to post pictures here is to upload them somewhere like photobucket and then piut the URL to your photo in between the
tags in your post.

Do you have as many threads engaged as was on the old nut? If yes, then all should be well.
