While driving to the beach this week we passed an old run down, overgrown store with about 20 old fords and farmall tractors. Had to turn around. Old guy that's owned the place for years comes out and prices a couple non running 8n's $2700. Each. Says he ate up with cancer won't live to Christmas. Why not sell them cheap to someone who willput em back to work ? All his implements were way over priced too. His wife rolled her eyes and the prices. I hope when I can't fool with my tractors I pass em on to someone who can use them. Time will tell I guess.

Keep an eye on the place. If he is really that bad it is likely when he dies his wife will have an auction. So if you catch it before she set it up you might be able to buy a couple pretty cheap. I saw one just the other day where some one wants like $1500 for a non-running 8N

Just like old cars. Some people would rather see them rot down than sell them for a fair price. Just don't make sense .

I see this type of thing all the time. The person who spent their lives collecting something like that is convinced of how 'valuable' it all is. Then they die and the family, who just wants to settle out the estate, will let it go for a song or send it to auction. Went through this with own MIL. All her 'valuable' antiques turned out to be worthless. Every last one of them. Am seeing the same thing with a neighbor, who can't seem to sell any of his over priced stuff. Have another neighbor who died and the big "dispersed" family thinks that the "no-will" probate will only take about 6 months at most. They'll want to give away the stuff by then.

Ditto what old said. Keep an eye on the place. very likely they will go 'on sale' soon... unfortunately.
