1955 Ford 660 Gas Cap

Just thought I would relay my experience from this past weekend. Especially for the other inexperienced tractor owners such as myself. Tractor stopped running while we were doing some bush hogging at the hunting camp. Thought it was out of gas. Tank was almost full, but there were bubbles coming up from the bottom of the tank. Checked the spark and it was good, it acted like it was not getting fuel and the spark plugs were dry. There was pressure in the tank when the cap was removed. I removed the bottom of the air filter and it started right up. The oil in the air filter was mixed with gas. I guess the pressure in the fuel tank gets high enough to force fuel into the air filter. So, I am assuming the fuel cap vent has failed. Have already bought another cap, we will see if it fixes the problem the next time I get down there. It seemed to run fine when I left the gas cap loose and changed the oil in the air filter.
