Can some one tell me if a Ford 600 will travel slow enough to run a tiller behind it? I am not sure what speeds they run or what speeds it needs to operate a tiller other than a slow speed. Does it have a high and low or is it like an 8n 4 speed?

Thanks
Floyd

The 600's could have a 4-speed, 5-speed, or 5-
speedwith live pto. 5-speeds have a noticeably
slower 1st gear than 4-speeds, but are still too fast
for a tiller.

A 600 will be way too fast to run a tiller. Ideally you would need a tractor that is about 30 years newer than a 600 to run a tiller. A 600 with a
two bottom plow then a 6 foot disc will do a great job on preparing a foot plot or garden area.

OK Thanks I was almost sure that it was too fast but I found a 600 cheep and thought I would ask.

Thanks
Floyd

Only need to go a few years newer than a 600 series to get to a 601 series with S-O-S transmission to be slow enough to run a tiller.

The later Fordson Dextas have a quite slow first gear. That is one advantage they
have. The other being the paint colors. At PTO speed, it runs at about 1 mph.

You could really slow down if you installed a 4000 3 cyl planetary rear trumpet on at least one side.
I'm pretty sure if you use two, it will run backwards, but really slowly. Flip over the ring gear.
The modification may take some machining.

I hope your saying this as a joke.

4000 planetary trumpet wont bolt to or spline up to a 600 center housing.
There's no such thing as flipping over a ring gear.
