1966 ford 4000 gas.

I just picked up this ford and after discing for a couple of hours I noticed the transmission housing got really hot. Like you can't touch it for more than 5 seconds hot. Is that normal? Oh it's got the s.o.s. tranny. And yes it has oil. Thanks!

Sounds like mine. When baling hay for an hour or so on a hot day it will hurt my leg to press against it.

I think a transmission oil cooler in the
radiator was standard on those. It might be
worth doing a good flush and refill on the
rad to make sure the thing is cooling
properly.
