Ford 2000 Stuck rings

Got it 2012 a 1973 3-cyl gas, it ran well and due to health issues let it sit. I did start it 2013 then could not get it to start due to crap ethanol gas that screwed the carb.

I went through the carb and all new ignition parts. Turned it over 2014 and 2015 but no start.

Problem seems lack of compression. #1 is O.K. #2 and #3 are low, about 75 psi. I put some ATF and oil in and turned it,then cleared things, it popped but flooded out. Checked compression-low then put some diesel and ATF in and turned it slow and sit a bit. #2 and #3 are still low.

Any suggestions on a snake oil that might free things up? #1 seems to fire then 2 and 3 are fouling. I'm hoping not to have to break it down.

Stuck valves have given me 0 compression in the past. But pulling a valve cover is better than crank cover. Thanks will do.

I should note #1 was 75 psi before I hit it with diesel/atf. Now it's running range.

Gas pistons have a large bowl in them, the stuff you poured in the spark plug hole may have went into the bowl and not got around the top of the pistons and rings to do any good.

Will do the diesel/ATF again. I put a good bit in, but thanks on the piston dimple. It was about 8 squirts from a oil can/ATF then a pour with a funnel on the diesel

Other brews I have seen are ATF/acetone.

Thoughts/comments? Thanks

What I do when I get a tractor that has sat a long time is. I fill the cylinders with ATF nothing else and let ti sit a day or 2. If it has a vertical exhaust I also pour in as much ATF as it will hold with out leaking some place. Then I let it sit. ALWAYS put the plugs back in to keep stuff out. Then pull the plugs out and spin it over to clear the ATF out and try to start it. I also do the same thing to an engine that is locked up from sitting. Out of over 30 tractor that where locked up only a couple did not free up

Thanks. It's not locked spins real free. Just compression is low on # 2 and #3. Will try the diesel and ATF again.

Engine ran fine when parked, good power and no smoke

pull the valve cover and make sure the valves are opening and closing and you have the correct valve lash. as that may be the problem. ... just too tight.
diesel is useless. , other than to burn it.

Try pull starting it?

My 3 cyl gasser had dismal compression, soaked it like you're doing - atf, marvel, pb blaster.

Ended up tearing it down when the ex valve snapped and punched a hole in #3 when the wife pulled me down the road and I popped the clutch in high gear. It chuffed twice and swallowed the valve.

Teardown revealed the rings were shot anyhow.

Leave the diesel out and just use ATF adding diesel to it will just lessen how well it works. Straight ATF cleans and lube far better then mixing it with diesel

Once you have it soaked well in ATF, roll it over with a 12V
battery until you have oil pressure on the gauge.

Then try pull starting it. Pull starting rolls the engine faster
and will often overcome a low compression none starting issue.
If pull starting is not a convenient option, use the 12V battery
to try to start it up the first time or more if needed.

I posted the procedure to jump with 12V safely a few days ago.
Let me know if you can't find it.
Don't hook a 12V battery to your 6V battery.

If that works, work the snot out of it. That's what I did to a 640
I had and it eventually cleared up. It was a good machine after that.

It's running in all of the pictures.

As far as snake oil goes GM top engine cleaner (get it at a Chebby GM dealer) are Sea foam are a far superior product over ATF for breaking down Carbon deposits. Combustion byproducts are normally what causes rings to stick and valves as far as that goes.
A product that cleans is a far better solution over a product that just frees it up over time.

In my trade I am looking for results in hours, are over night not days weeks are mounts.

I use Sea Foam "Snake Oil"; alcohol, naptha and light oil, most auto parts stores carries it. I fed my 63 2000D that was smoking pretty good a few cans of it and cleaned her right up. Starts fast too even after sitting for several weeks.

Didn't exactly mean stuck stuck, a little rust on the seats and valves with the valves sitting open would be enough to lose the seal.
