Ford 2000 hydraulic tube

Hello friends. I need some help. I have a 3cyl gasoline ford 2000 and my high pressure hydraulic tube keeps blowing out of the pump.
First time it did it I cut about 3/8" off the end of the tube because it looked a little boogered up.

Since then I have replaced the big hex headed fitting along with the rubber seal and the 2 small copper rings but it keeps blowing out somtimes immediatly after startup, sometime I get a few minutes out of it.

What is supposed to hold that tube in there? I see straps on the suction side but none on the high side. Is that tube supposed to be flared? Did I cut it too short?

Thanks for the help.

OldMatt,
Welcome to the Ford board.
It's a common problem on those.
That nut with the metal washer and rubber
seal works good - untill the pump or lines
have been removed a couple of times. Then
the metal washer eats into the tube and wont
hold anymore.
Your options are to buy a new line - and nut
and start over, or...
You might bring your pump, nut and line into
a hydraulic hose/specialty shop and inquire
about a fitting that screws into the pump
with a flare on the other end. I had one
here that someone installed a fitting with a
flare and flared the tube.
I used to think it was OEM but have never
seen another one like it. It worked very
well.
If I run into that problem again i will look
into replacing that nut, etc with a flare
fitting.
If you go that route make a new post with
your results - with fitting brand name and
part #s if you can. As i said, that is a
fairly common problem so a good fix would
be a welcome addition to the collective
knowledge here.

This flare fitting is more elusive than Sasquatch. I've checked the dealer, the biggest custom hyd hose shop I've ever seen, a small tractor repair shop who did verify its existance, and the interwebs. No luck yet. good thing I'm not a pro farmer Id have lost it all by now.
