Oil Filter Cartage Type Vs Spin-on

I am looking to get an opinion on oil filter of NAA tractor at present it has a spin-on oil filter conversion came that way when purchased. However it leaks the man who bought the tractor from said as much too had to really tighten. I realize these filters are cleaner to mess with but thinking of finding an old carterge canister and bolt if this would fix the leak don't get me wrong it's not terrible, but don't like them.

Thankyou;
Travis

I just bought one off ebay for $35 for my Ford 3000. If you decide to and you select the same supplier I did, which has no seal between the adapter and the engine block shown, there IS a rubber gasket in th kit. Reason was my local NH dealer quit stocking them and Motorcraft FL-1A, fits my other Ford tractor.

He probably cracked it when he installed it.
The first one I purchased I over tightened the bolt while installing the adapter and cracked it, 45 bucks in the trash, next one I was a little more careful on how tight I got it, hasn't leaked for 20 years.

Might need to be removed and the orings behind the adaptor replaced. also the bigger plate needs to be position correctly.

Socondly.. might check the oil pressure to see how high its running.

The one I bought is cast iron (steel) and probably weighs 4 lbs. If you crack that sucker you must be on it with a 1" impact at 175#.

I bought one for my NAA from this site (YT). easy install and no leaks. The location of the can filter on the NAA makes leak free filter changes difficult in my opinion.
