How much should I get?

A fellow called yesterday who saw my 901 Sunday at a show. He needs it to have on display in front of his business. He says he doesn't have to have it right away, but he wants to be sure that he has right of first refusal.

I told him that I don't have any illusions of getting paid a good rate for my time, yet I have seen very little of what tractors like this with a rebuilt motor are selling for. This one stands up to a magnifying glass. It was all recently rebuilt except for the hydraulics. Any seen any nice ones sell lately or know where I can get published sale amounts.

If he wants a static display to set in the rain tell him to buy
a junker and put a $1500 paint job on it. No need for originality,
a rebuilt engine, working hydraulics, power steering, etc.

I can't tell you what tractors sell for in your area.
Work clothes tractors here have been low but are coming up.
Lipstick on a pig tractors higher to the right buyers.
Well re-worked/refurbished tractors are higher but take a
longer time to sell. I've been offered $4200 for my Jubilee.
Bare tractor, no implements with it.

It means that, if mine, it would be worth more to me than it would likely be worth to others.

This is one reason why I rarely sell anything.

I have a 55 Ferg. TO-35 with rebuilt engine and fresh paint and all the parts goodies that I put on it. in my area I doubt I could get half of what I have in the tractor.

Fully restored cars sell for more than a new car. Would he be willing to pay the price of a new equivalent tractor?

And.... what are your plans for the tractor... will you run it and make a worker out of it? I would ask 10k for it and see if he walks away... no less. A barret jackson auction could get you a lot or get you nothing for it.

Beautiful tractor! I thought my 4000D was perfect, yours might be even better. Don't give it away. Offer to find him another yard ornament for a
fee.

Ahhh, but he is a sharp business man. He wants a display that will bring him thousands, not a lawn ornament that will bring fives. :D

(quoted from post at 06:29:09 09/01/16) Brentwood? Chuckle chuckle! They just did a 641 for Milford!

They would have to pay me a huge premium. I will have to go look at the one at Milford.

Don't know if the 641 is on display yet, or not. When I saw it they still had it in the shop finishing up a few things.
I'm guessing it will live in the inside showroom, and don't know if Brentwood has room for inside display, as I haven't been over there since they expanded!
On another note, how's your 2nd crop looking? Mine's non existant

I have a few low spots that are looking good, the rest is not worth cutting. Since I am now down to about twenty acres, the good areas amount to only about three acres, on the plus side though at least they are nearby and close together. I hope that I can get about fifty bales 'cause I have that much promised.

Regardless of how much he offers you, it would make me sick to see it sit outside and deteriorate.
