Checking hydraulic pressure 3000

Getting ready to order a pressure gauge to check the lift pressure on my 3000 diesel. The gauge itself has a male 1/4 inch NPT fitting and wondering if I will need to order any other fittings/adapters or if the 1/4 inch fitting will screw directly into the test port?

don't guess, just check. :)

while there are others an easy test is just to use the plug on the option cover under the seat. put gauge there, chain an upper
arm to the axle, then exercise the lift.

Was hoping I wouldn't have to remove the plug(s) and figure out what thread it is to see what adapter I might need. Northern tool has what they call O-Ring to 1/4 NPT adapters that will go into a straight threaded 3/8 or 1/4 port. Is this what I need? 3/8 or 1/4 or both?

it's been a while since I pulled a plug on one of those covers. last one I did was on my 950, and it was npt for sure.

Ps.. if you are afraid to pull a plug to check size.. might be time to sell the tractor. ;)

just sayin' .. ;)

If I was at home i'd pull the plug on my 3000 and check for ya.. but I'm not at home.

Not afraid to pull the plug, actually not afraid to tackle just about anything. Was thinking someone had already been there and could save me a little time. Was also thinking getting questions answered was the main attraction of these forums but guess I was wrong.

Ah, ill take that reply as you no longer want help, so ill oblige and not bother by reading or replying to any more of your messages.

Good luck!

You wake up on the wrong side this morning. I've been on this forum for quite some time and have seen you answer questions and been helpful just as I have when I felt I could add something. You do not know the answer to my question so why be a puncture wound about it. Fine by me if you don't answer any of my posts you didn't have anything useful to add anyway.

A search didn't come up with anything specific to the 3000. When I get it figured out I will add the answer just in case someone else might have the same question.

Thanks, didn't think to look at a parts list, Most parts list I have had experience with would list a plug like that simply as Plug and a part number with no details of size.

Nope it's 9/16 X 18 bolt thread. You will need a 9/16-18 O-ring to 1/4 NPT adaptor.
I found one on-line at MSC Industrial Supply. Part is only $3.33 but shipping and tax makes it around 12.00
