Ford Select-O-Speed 971 Questions

I "inherited" a Ford Select-O-Speed some years back from my uncle. I have invested quite a bit into the tractor (alternator, distributor, manifold, muffler/exhaust, had the lights rewired/replaced, and a light for back plow added, replaced fuel line, condenser, coil, plugs, refurbished gas tank, and some other things I can't recall. It has a 3 point hitch and would include a large size brush hog (I don't know how you measure it, but it is like the biggest size I saw at the Tractor Supply Store), an easily adjustable rear plow, and a boom (which I have never used -- I guess it is used for picking up logs or large items???). It also has chains for the tires. It has been a good tractor and it did everything I needed it to, but I am ready to sell it as I am planning to move into town. Does anyone know how much I should ask for it and where would be some good places to list it for sale? Also, how can I find out what year it is? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

That's not a lot to go on.
I would say the things you've done to it are more in the line of stanard upkeep and maintenance than value improving.
More important is how are the rear tires?
Are they old? Newer? Do they have cracks? Good or worn tread?
How is the sheet metal and paint? Nice and clean or old and faded and dents?
Is it a gas or diesel engine? Does it smoke or use a lot of oil? Any significant leaks on the tractor? Does it have power steering?
Those Select O Speed transmissions have their fans and following but generally they significantly devalue the tractor compared to a gear stick model.
Does it shift crisply into all gears? Both when the tractor is cold and hot? Does the PTO stay engaged with the mower on it?
Measuring the width of the mower is easy and helpful. Also looking for tags or decals would help. An " easily adjustable plow" means nothing to me. Is it a plow for turning soil for a garden or a blade for moving gravel and or snow?
With this little info I would say most of us (as well as any potential buyers) will err on the side of undervaluing it.
But just a wild guess here... I would guess $1500 to $2000 for the tractor and implements. Maybe up to $3000 if the tractor runs very good, with good tires, decent paint, etc and the implements are in good useable condition.

Pictures would help greatly. :)

As Ultradog said, tires, sheet metal, transmission should shift into all gears, and does the engine use burn oil or leaks. If in decent condition, that would sell in a heartbeat for $2000 here in MI, if in fairly good condition, I'd say $3000.

Yup post son pics

I agree with UD, the items you mention is just band aid stuff .. Maintenance.

Post us some good clear pics.

It could be anywhere from 800$ - 4500$ fully restored.

Average SOS rowcrop are lucky to hit 2500$, and many go in 1500-2200 range.
