4500 help oil leak

Leaking fluid from the trans area. I'm thinking torque converter,
what's the easiest way to split this, 4500 loader backhoe. Thanks.

May not be torque converter. Mine, for instance, is leaking from the forward/reverse selector valve located in the same area. The PIA is taking the fluid filled loader frame off.

You can look to see what may be leaking by removing the steering column, I drained all the fuel out of the tank, then disconnected what was needed and hooked my lift to the steering wheel and pulled the column, tank and dash assembly off, this gave me a 6" square hole to look in and should give access to the shift valve.
You may want to take the hoe off first, if you need to split the tractor the hoe will have to be off out of the way in order to roll the rear axle and transmission away from the front end and loader

Prop the loader fully up with the bucket rolled back. Lower backhoe to ground if present. Support loader frame directly below mast uprights. Split engine from transmission leaving loader, transmission, rear axle and backhoe in place. Can leave front axle attached to engine or remove grille shell and radiator, then bolster and axle from engine and use cherry picker on engine depending on tools and equipment available. Steering box, dash cowl and fuel tank remain in place on transmission

Yes it can be done that way as well, but how do you access the torque convertor bolts without removing the steering column.
I'm just going by what the factory service manual says, My 4500 has a manual reverser with a clutch instead of a torque convertor so it splits like a normal tractor.

Remove T/C from flywheel after split.
Power reversing tractors have been split this way at my workplace for decades. There's always more than one way to do things. Figured I'd
post an alternative to dropping the hoe to service F/R clutches and T/C.
We do brake jobs on 655A tlb's and such with the hoe on the machine, too. You won't find that in the factory manual, either.

I'm all for the easiest way to get the job done and removing the convertor after the split is fine.
Now how bout a little info on how to put it back together, haven't done one myself but was thinking the convertor splined into the transmission like automotive ones and trying to respline the convertor to the trans with the convertor bolted to the flywheel normally got something broke in that application.

Not a lot different than aligning two splined shafts into a double clutch or a PTO clutch hub and a pump drive gear when reassembling a rear split on a Ford with IPTO.

Takes a little care and caution.
