1959 ford 801 gas, quit last week, 2 problems, 1st one the little copper wire going thru th dist, was almost broken, thin enough causing fire problems, 2nd one, took the hose from carb to air cleaner off, and it was almost totally filled with gas, so I bought a carb refurb kit. And a new copper wire for the dist, plus new points, rotor, condenser, and rebuilt each item.
Now tractor turns over, but only backfires through carb, everyone once in a while it almost runs. Like its out of time, never took the dist out of motor, but I went ahead and brought the cylinder up to top, match it to zero on the flywheel and it aligns with number one plug on dist. Still no joy. Also anyone else have a problem with breaking the rotor buttons, every since I changed the cap and center cap and the button, you don't get all that damn well lined up, it's snaps the rotor button just lickety split.
Anyways, and ideas I haven't thought of yet?
