Were the original lug nuts painted blue-rear wheels??? I have also read they were cadmium from the factory.

Mine were painted over with a brush at one point with factory gray but looks like blue underneath.

Thanks

I don't think lug nuts were every factory painted.

Originally they where cadmium plated, when I repainted two of my tractors the lug nuts where rusty so I painted them blue with the rest of the chassis. Makes them stand out against the gray wheels.

The fasteners that hold sheet metal, wheels, seat, carburetor and linkages, and small elec. components were plated, because all of that was added down the line after the main chassis was painted. All the rest were the color of whatever they were part of.

NO!... Ford tractors did not come with painted toenails~! They were cadium or zinc plated. No pink tractors either. ; )

My front lugs are blue and the rear ones had blue paint underneath the brushed on gray paint. There is zero sign of blue paint on the rim around the front wheels.

My uncle was the original owner and the second owner bought it in 1985 and I went out to see him today and he said the lugs were all blue all the time he owned it and he never painted them and my uncle never would have done so.

I wonder if it matters where the tractor was made? I restore old cars and never say never is the old motto when it comes to originality.
