What would be the best repair manual I could get for my newly acquired tractor?

The best one is the factory manual but ITs are good for the money.

Depends on your skill level.
I'm no mechanic but all I've ever needed was the I&T FO-41 manual.

I've got the factory repair manuals for mine, weren't cheap then and a lot higher today. IT manuals are good, factory gets into more detail.

I'm not sure on the x600 series, but for the earlier tractors the Ford factory service manual calls for special tools for certain adjustments and those tools are no longer available, but the I&T manual has "alternate procedures" for those adjustments that can be done without the special tools. For my '73 4000 I have both, the softback I&T manual and a PDF on CD of the Ford Factory Service Manual.

I & T FO-41 for me too. Local NH dealer has them on a rack. Mine was like $27 when I bought it.
