Replacement regulator

Hi all- Replacement REG bigger than original and comes with a plate. Positive ground 8n front mount distributor. Did I get the wrong one?

More information: there are a couple of rubber "bumpers" the old regulator was sitting on. It seems that if I remove those, then there are holes on the plate that correspond to those in my tractor and it will all fit and make sense- put the part on the plate and the plate on the tractor... What the fetch purpose do the bumpers serve? Shock absorbers, I imagine...? Necessary?

he old Auto-Lite VRs are no longer available, so what you got is today's replacement. Many old tractors used rubber vibration isolators back when, but they were later dispensed with.

Bryce,
When you ask questions concerning a tractor etc, It is most helpful if you start by identifying the model of tractor you are working on. Some people have more than one thing in need of repair or just have more than one model of tractor or junk pile like me. I try to keep one working so that by the time it breaks down I have another one fixed with chewing gum and bailing wire. lol

Welcome to YT forums. Gee that sounds rather forward as I still feel new to YT compared to most of the members.
