I don't often disagree with you Rod, but I have to this time! A farm that I worked for back in the '70's had one 3000 with white centers, and one 3000 with blue centers. These were '65-'68 models and both were bought new and original, although they may have had different YOM.

oh, Im not going to change them, JayinNY mentioned it on tractor talk and I was curious to get an answer from the people here on the ford forum, so far it is still up in the air lol

I've seen many "original" tractors with the blue centers. My 1972 5000 with original paint has blue centers. It seems like most with blue centers are from the early 1970s because by 1975 and certainly by the _600 series in 1976 everything had white centers. I kinda like the blue, too.

I gotta admit that most had the white centers, but there were a few that came with blue. possibly from a different factory? Possibly Basildon?

Case in point? Doubt that's a re-paint?!

I had a 68 2000 for a several years then sold it a couple of years ago.
I am certain no part of it had never been repainted.

As for no PS on your tractor; I might be able to fix you up there. Just dragged a complete PS system for a 2/3000, 26/3600 home today.

I would be very, very surprised if the tractor ever left the factory with blue wheels. Gray gloss I believe was the correct color on the earlier models and that drifted towards white at some point in time... but even on the Fordson's the wheels were gray gloss.
I can see where a dealer might have painted them a different color... but doubtfull if they left the factory like that. Colors were a pretty standard thing on Ford tractors.

my 68 3000 had blue paint under the white repaint when i buffed it down.

not sure if it was factory or an early repaint by a dealer way back when.. but was interesting none the less.

You are correct SS, that is my tractor and it was indeed original when I bought it and had never been repainted. Here is a more recent picture of it, still have not painted it but I did have to put a more comfortable seat on it. Don't worry though, I still have the original seat!

My 72 4000SU came factory with blue centers, I remember my brother talking about people coming in for parts at the Ford dealer he worked at. He'd ask them what year the tractor was and when they didn't know he'd ask them what color the back wheel centers where. His 72 5200 had blue centers, my 69 4000 came with white centers and my 67 5000 has white centers.

My '73 4000 (ag chassis S-O-S trans) came from the factory with the entire tractor painted yellow, except for a blue stripe down both sides of the hood where the decals would have normally been and blue wheels, front and rear. It was a fleet purchase for a state highway department. The blue isn't even a Ford tractor blue, it is much darker, even after 40 years of fading.
