Tracto-man 961

Looks pretty good! Munith is only about 20ish mins from here. Sent him an email.

It can go with my NF 961 I got at the Mason show! Lol.

If you want to drive it up here for me I'd probably buy it. ;)
Tore a bearing out of my trailer again hauling the last load.
Ruined one tire too. Trailer is 3 years old and has already
had the entire axle with the current bad bearing replaced once
under warranty. When I fix it this time I think I'll trade it in.
It has never been overloaded and the first bearing went out at
three months old while hauling it empty. Trailer and axles both
made in America. Bearings? Who knows. Plenty of grease in
there, that's what's all over the white rims and the tire.
These are from the first time it went out.
Next trailer won't have 3500 lb axles.

Wow, kinda makes me glad i don't have to deal with a trailer. ;) It would be pretty handy to be able to hook up and go whenever though instead of days of planning to use
somebody else's.

I would probably prefer Narrow front as well, but they sell so darn fast I can never get to one in time! And I believe it I were ever to find a narrow front pedestal it
would bolt onto this in place of the wide?

I don't like those extended grease caps, they get bumped or hit something going down the road, then they fly off and all of the grease is lost from the outer bearing.
I have a 97 model trailer with 3500lb axles and standard grease caps, Haven't had any bearing failures and have only repacked the bearings once for a 700 mile round trip to pick up a NH 3930. It hasn't been used much the past six years due to purchasing a bigger trailer with 6000lb axles.
Friend of mine put a set of bearing buddy's on his boat trailer, had so much trouble with them the first year he took them off, tossed them and put regular caps back on.

There's no power steering pump or hoses, but still turns well, tires are great, been sitting in a barn for 5 or so years they say. Barely smokes when you revv it. Should
I still go for it even without PS? Original draw bar with no welds, live PTO works good, all the gears work.

Guy has lots of tractor and gave it to his grandson to sell so he can build a puller Farmall A.

Do I see hydraulic remotes too? Nah, you don't need it.
Just drive it up to my place and drop it off! ;)
If you do get it, I have a pump and reservoir that may work.

Yep, Hydro remotes and he says he has a new seat, steering wheel and manual.

Alrighty, I guess I'll see if I can drive it home tomorrow.

I don't want to steer you wrong, so let me point out that I
haven't seen it or heard it run. It doesn't look bad to me though.

The hydraulic pump I have works fine, may need the bracket
modified to fit a 172, depends on how you want to run the belt.
It fit on my 134 so the bolt holes should line up.

The reservoir is the type that fastens to the top of the valve cover.
The top seal needs to be replaced, otherwise it works fine too.
Has the filter and spring still in it also.

If you get the tractor and want them, they are yours for the trip
to come get them. They're just setting on a shelf in the garage.
Have been for a couple of years now since I converted my PS
to run off the loader hydraulics instead of the belt driven pump.

"wonder what the turned up brackets at the front of the foot boards where for."

Keep your feet from sliding off? ;)
I don't know either but if I were to guess with it being in Michigan
they may have been to mount the front brackets for a heat houser?

The reason for no power steering could be cheap and easy seal on the pump. It could also be badly pitted cylinder rod, which requires the cylinder to be cut to put new rod in. This is expensive repair. I fixed a rod by cleaning well, then filling rusted pitted area with epoxy and smoothing real well.

Payed for and picking it up or driving it home tomorrow.

I'm so excited!!! Lol, thanks for posting that Royse. I'd seen it earlier on CL but didn't really consider when I saw wide front, but then you posted it so I was like,
okay, it's a deal. Guy said he had multiple people trying to get it today but he held for me.

Congrats! I hope it works out well for you Andy!
I saw the PS pump setting on the shelf today, the reservoir should be right
there too. I'll make sure I get them dug out for you if you want them.
I don't have the lines for it but those shouldn't be hard to have made.
