What size box grader for a Ford 4600? 6 of 7 ft.

I'm currently looking for a box grader for my 4600, and would like to know which size will work out best.

I have narrowed it down to 6 or 7 ft. wide. There are pros and cons to both.

For the 6 ft width:

Pros:
There are a lot more 6 ft models available used.
My tractor should easily handle this width.

Cons:
6 ft is not as wide as the tractor. Almost, but maybe a few inches shy on each side.

For the 7 ft width:

Pros:
Easily covers the width of the tractor.

Cons:
Not as available as the 6 ft's.
May be a little bit of a strain on the tractor when loaded up.

Any suggestions...or just get the one that comes buy at the best price?

Thanks.

My 4000 handles a 7' fully loaded box well, and given the option of a 6 or 7, I'd go with the bigger blade every time. A 4600 should do even better.

That said, I'm running fully loaded rear tires, as I mount a loader too.

I stumbled across a nice 7' at an auction a few years
ago. Wasn't really looking for one, but it went cheap,
so....
My 4600 handles it nicely. You won't be over-
working your 4600. You won't be happy with one
that's narrower than the tractor.

That's what I was thinking as well. I'll keep looking for the 7 footer. Nice to know it will work well. Thanks.

I have a loader as well. I don't know how much weight is in the tires, but from the replies here a 7 ft box blade is the way to go. Thanks.

Andy ... I have a 4610 and use an EIGHT foot box blade. This is the "straight front axle" tractor
and has 16.9 x 30 rear rubber. I did use a seven foot before the eight and it just barely cleared
rear width. Horsepower wise, you could easily handle 7 or 8. If you are using a "small" 4600, the
seven would work nice. Forget about 6 ft.

7' for sure, like was said, this tractor would handle an 8' back blade, though a box blade contains loose material, a 7' model would work well. I like the oddball back blade I found for my 4630 last fall, 8' would be nice, but the 7' will spin 180 without being taken off the tractor.

Pros... it will handle it fine..

Cons... bigger is easier to bend and twist

Cons... Bigger means it sticks out wider than the tires and my wife will tearing up all the gates and trees, and fences
